Long Overdue Update

We haven't posted for a while because it has been such a roller coaster of emotions in our house. Last month, at this time, we found out Graeme was going to be a big brother. We were thrilled, albeit a little surprised that the Frozen Embryo Transfer worked. I was so excited to never go through another IVF cycle. I started scoping out "Big Brother" shirts to order when I hit 12 weeks and got Graeme a new stroller that allows for a 2nd seat. We threw names back and forth for a while but decided not to settle on anything until we knew the gender. On the 4th of May we saw a perfect little heartbeat and a baby measuring 6 weeks and 3 days giving us a Christmas baby. The next day it was all taken away. To say we were devastated to lose the baby would be a gross understatement.

I debated on posting this, mostly because I don't want people to feel sorry for us or look at us with sad eyes, but I feel that this topic is so taboo in our culture and it's just not right. At least 25% of all pregnancies end is miscarriage (probably more that people are not aware of). The more people talk about these topics, the less alone people going through such a heartbreaking loss will feel. We have been blessed to have the support of our families through this difficult time and are so very thankful.

These past two weeks, we have been enjoying every minute we get to spend with the very special boy that is in our lives right now. Coming home to him every day makes us so incredibly happy. I absolutely cannot believe he turned 16 months old this week! Here are some photo's of him from the past couple of weeks. I am hoping, with summer coming, that I am better at updating Graeme's blog.
